CROCHET: An easy but effective long vest/waistcoat in a plain treble stitch (DC in USA) with a lacework hemline; a good all round and beginner pattern.
It is quick to crochet; the lace section is easily made, row by row in basic trebles and chains forming the classic “spider stitch” detail. It is made in 3 separate parts but if you hate sewing up-it could easily be made all in in one with no side seams. It is also easy to alter lengthwise which means it is very versatile.
Made in cotton (maybe even as a shorter version too) it would be perfect for hippy festivals or as a lightweight summer bolero. Made in acrylic or wool at hip length or full length, it is great layering for mid-season walks or cosy winter days at home!
