CROCHET: A beautiful crochet wedding dress ensemble-or long evening dress in classic late 60s style. The sleeveless empire line dress has and a gorgeous, almost square, scoop neckline and quite a straight skirt. The skirt is crocheted downwards from the bodice in a chunky shell stitch lace pattern, ending in a shell hemline. You could easily make this a short dress –just stop at the length require.
The bodice is in close textured stitches and has a crochet ribbon trim threaded through before the long skirt starts.
This is a very sixties look-the scoop neckline is wide and quite deep; feminine but it remains modest with hardly any cleavage revealed; which is nice for a wedding dress ( In my opinion!).
It also has bands of “Goldfingering” (a Lurex /sparkle thread) within the lace but this is optional of course. I still have some of these threads and include photos in with the pattern notes. Stalite is a “no3” crochet cotton with a soft lustre; Crysette is given as equivalent but in my opinion it is slightly thinner with a crisp “crepe twist” texture.
Please note: the dress has an underarm/side zip but there is no back opening in the dress. It has a fabric lining; full instructions are given for making this if you wish to.
