KNITTED: this is a very pretty and delicate bed jacket to knit and wear. This vintage 60s knitting pattern gives instructions separately for two yarn weights; 3ply (or baby yarn) and 4 ply.
It is buttoned at the front, with a yoke and the sleeves are three quarter length and slightly fluted.
The method of construction is very elegant and practical and produces a comfortable “seamless” garment. It is knitted sideways in one piece around the body and sideways across either sleeve in an easy row pattern with a lace detail on one edge forming the hems. The simple garter stitch yoke is then picked up from the completed body and sleeves.
A ribbon trim and dainty buttons finish it with a very delicate and feminine look. It would make a lovely gift for a new mother or anyone needing a little extra warmth and comfort- in vintage sixties style!
