CROCHET: A useful pattern for two variations of this classic design. Both garments are easy to make, the backs and cardigan sleeves are plain, with just a neat lace panel detail on the cardigan and waistcoat fronts. (It would be relatively simple to make panel up the sleeves as well.)
The cardigan (they call it a “lumber”) has a round neckline, the sleeveless cardie, or vest / waistcoat has a deep scoop neckline of the early 70s.
The sleeveless version would easily convert into a festival top if it was cropped at the midriff with some fringing or a lace hemline added.
