KNITTING: A very traditional knitting pattern for a  standing Rabbit toy! This is a very vintage WWII pattern with are some lovely touches from the salvaging and textile ration saving ideas of the wartime “make do and mend” publications. He is also an economy bunny rabbit as he was supposed to be made from stuff you had around (what we now call recycled).

There is also a really helpful photo of the knitted flat pieces to help you construct him.

This pattern creates a lovely cuddle friendly toy-however you may wish to rethink those appliquéd, and heavily highlighted, embroidered felt eyes; because unfortunately, as they are, he looks a bit scary! (Can there be such a thing as the “evil rabbit”?  Hmmm...)

He is quite large at 16inches (41cm); you could make him smaller with 4ply yarn on smaller needles.

His jumper and shorts are knitted in one piece with the body. It is hard to see in the black and white photos but colour changes are given in the instructions. These are optional; you could   make him one colour and knit clothes for him using the pattern with a couple of extra stitches on the seams to allow them to fit.

A nice nostalgic project and toy; especially with spring and Easter rabbit toys in mind.
