KNITTING: two exceptionally pretty retro tea cosies to knit, both slightly different from the usual , ideal for adding the vintage touch to your tea party.
The darker one is called “Reveille or “wake up”-presumably aimed at breakfast! It has coloured bobbles (described as “bells”) for a good insulating texture. It is a pop over style, knitted as two sides-sewn up with spaces for the spout and handle.
The second is a “pop over” style without openings. This one they named “Call me Madam”! It is formed as a lacy crinoline skirt for a china doll figure* (but she also has a nice, knitted, woolly underskirt for warmth!). This is an altogether daintier affair intended for a civilized tea time.
This style you remove for pouring means there will be no drips on your lovely work as you pour!
The original delicate leaflet is a tiny (5x8 inch) - quite charming –but for ease of knitting I have enlarged and reformatted it ..
*Vintage china doll toppers like this can be found -but if one is not to hand it could also be made without a doll (or you can upcycle an unwanted teen doll or make one from modelling clay )
