KNITTING: A lovely vintage pattern for three very different traditional tea cosies.
All pop over the teapot; the traditional fluted style, interpreted in a check pattern here, has openings for handle and spout as well.
Another has a classic dome shape and is knitted in a pretty diamond lace stitch with a corded trim.
The third design is also a dome shape-this time as a doll* topped crinoline style. Lace frills are knitted as strips, and then sewn onto the basic plain tea cosy shape. These were very popular but this “skirt” shape will work without a doll too –just add a bow or flower on top perhaps.
*Vintage china doll toppers like this can still be found -but if one is not to hand it could also be made without a doll (or you can upcycle an unwanted teen doll or make your own in modelling clay).
