CROCHET : A pretty blanket or afghan, made in squares that are all the same. The original is shown in two, toning, colours-but it would work equally well as a multi-coloured “scrap afghan” project-or a traditional black or a white background with coloured “flower” centres; there are several possibilities for using colour to alter the look of the finished blanket. The square motif is formed around an octagonal flower shape. This central flower medallion shape has been reinvented in modern projects; I have seen it recently in a lot of coaster and bunting patterns!
