KNITTING: this vintage 50s pattern has tree unusual tea cosy designs-for three completely different looks.
There is a more traditional one –but it is made brioche (fisherknit / fisherman’s rib) stitch, instead of the normal pleated /ruched method; still warm for insulating the teapot, but a little more elegant! It does however still have the ubiquitous pompom topper!
The second one is made with a mock Fair Isle effect colour work, achieved with slip stitches; it has a top left open in a ring around the lid.
Both of these have openings for the spout and handle.
The third version is a pop over without openings. In a rectangular shape with a triangular gusset it just pops over the whole pot. It is trimmed with a fluffy fringe along the top and is embellished with flower embroidery to resemble a fabric design.
