KNITTING: this is a vintage pattern designed for “bazaar” or fundraising - knitting as well as for basic useful items the housewife needed to create for her home”. It has a good selection of useful crochet and knitted items (well, nearly all of them) in a mixture of chunky, DK and four-ply wool (worsted and sport weight).
The tea cosy and egg cosies set is very fresh and pretty –gathered into the top with a pompom tie –or little tassels. It is knitted in a mock “check” stitch – very easy to do using pairs of slipped stitches and plain knitting rows.
The “Cornish Pasty” shaped slippers were very common-again easy and quick to knit they stretch to fit comfortably, despite their weird appearance uninhabited.
The striped cushion is actually described as “a kneeler” so… that is the gardeners, school, church, and the old folks home bazaars all catered for…
Other items are a child’s beanie hat with pompom, and two lovely cosy hot water bottle covers.
CROCHET: the tie, mesh bag and pot holder are in very basic crochet-good beginner projects.
Items:- child’s beanie (bulky) , slippers (DK), cushion or kneeler (oddments), tie (4ply), tea and egg cosies (DK), pot holder (bulky), hot water bottle cover (DK), babies’ hot water bottle cover (4ply), crotchet bag (DK)
